Another Permanant Public Installation for COTA CMAX Busline

Recently announced to me last week (COTA) Central Ohio Transit Authority, and all the deciding influential parties accepted another one of my large background display designs. Using ultra high resolution scans from local Columbus, Ohio fall Maple leaves that I hand selected I arranged them to attract attention from a far distance making it an international landmark for all diverse COTA bus clients to mention in bus stop conversations.

My comments on the subject include;

"Fall makes me feel alive the most. I thought I would use my passion for nature and show off the the organic colors fall leaves produced in Columbus, Ohio. These leaves are far from perfect, but perfectly beautiful as you rarely see the range of colors and life and death in each leaf. Since they are from the same tree, I feel they are also symbolic of being a family. Mother, father, sisters and brothers, like my family portraits."

"I feel everyone has a connection with nature, and local fall leaves are not appreciated enough personally to me. I see people so busy with life they can't stop and interact with the amazing grace of mother nature's touch on keeping life beautiful for those whom notice it."

"I am so proud to share local urban Columbus, Ohio nature with my neighbors and the community promoting and sharing positive energy to those who also love and appreciate natures beauty."

Darrek Robertson is Featured in a Public Art Installation for COTA's new CMAXX Cleveland Ave. Bus Stops

After 4 months of sending out ideas and revisions to several VIP's for COTA's new rapid transit
$38 million grant from the Obama Federal Transit Authority administration. OHM Advisors, the Northland Community Council, and the Columbus Arts Commission told me yesterday my artwork was selected as a permanent install for several bus stops.

This is my second ever permanent public art installation. My first is a photo of Eddie George giving a #1 hand gesture the year he won the football Heisman Trophy for the Ohio State University. The Eddie George framed print is installed at the Westerville Public Library.

To unite the suburbs around Polaris and lower income families who work in the Polaris area or downtown, COTA is building the CMAXX rapid transit system up and down Cleveland Ave. At a mere $2 bus fare downtown and back, 33 new bus stops will be built through 2016- 2017 up and down Cleveland Ave. All will showcase art work from local Ohio artists, like myself.

This is my final concept that was just approved this week. A color theory approach with translucent shades of color forms bringing positive energy to the location.

Somewhere between fine art and industrial design

Charlotte, a visitor to the 2016 graduating senior's own #CHROMA Best of the Best Show at Columbus College of Art & Design takes a load off her tired feet from walking around campus.

I was chosen to have my versatile comfortable flotation device for industrial design accepted into the show. Being in the Beeler Gallery was a huge success for me and the industrial design department at CCAD. The Beeler Gallery, formerly the Canzani Gallery of Modern Art, also has a sister gallery at the Wexner Center for the Arts, in Columbus, Ohio.

Thanks for interacting with my piece Charlotte, that makes me feel like I am on to something great.

LUX Luxury Flotation Devices

I graduate from the Columbus College of Art & Design with a BFA in Industrial Design this May. My senior thesis was to partner with a foam manufacturer Spongex, and it's parent company Swimways. The goal, come up with a concept or concepts that help them sell more foam floats or other foam devices.

So I went for it. I created a brand called LUX that if for upscale clients or tropical resorts.

The concept helps solve seating problems around pools during events or parties. You can seat 4-7 people on it, a person can chill, sleep, and float on it. And for more value, it holds your valuables, hotel key, or beverages in the headrest. When it floats and it's like a zero gravity chair in the water.

This proprietary foam made by, is covered with a 2mm neoprene fabric for stability in UV, chlorine, water and resistance to hot pavement elements.  Here are some photographs I took of my device of the final prototype.
